    RI question
Hey there, I have a question about a respiratory infection with my BP.

Can the RI spread from reptile to mammal? i.e: snake to rodent?

    Thanks!

Very unlikely as far as I know (I'll stop short of saying impossible). Snakes are cold-blooded & harbor mostly different pathogens than warm-blooded mammals.
But just in case, don't let your snakes kiss your rodents...;) Your rodents are FAR more likely to catch YOUR colds & such.

Are you asking because you offered your BP a live rodent that it didn't eat & now you realize it has an R.I.-? In general, it's a bad idea to re-offer prey to other snakes you have, as they can be a disease vector (they can transfer the R.I. from your BP to another snake you have).

Hi there! Thank you! And no, it’s kinda a weird situation, I’ve got a rescue ball python with an RI and I need to bump her to a different size cage so I thought, while her old cage will be vacant my hamster needs a cage upgrade as well and the one being given up is just the right size, so of course, I’ll be cleaning the cage the rep with RI is leaving behind but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t putting my hamster in harms way.

    thank you again! <3
