Retching Noises?

Hey there, something interesting happened just now and I was wondering if this is normal or if my snake is strange.

Fírnen my bp just shed within the past thirty minutes and, as he always does, left me a big poop to clean up in the process. Afterwards, he came out of the hide he had shed in and made three very loud, very startling retching noises that I’ve never heard him make.

I was scared because I thought he might be regurging or vomiting, but then I remembered that he hasn’t been fed in a while because he’s been in shed this whole time (to be clear, he didn’t regurg, yayy). As I was cleaning up the poo, I noticed that it smelled reallyyyy bad.

Could it be that Fírnen was reacting to the smell of his own poo? Has anyone heard of snakes doing this? 😂

I have a hunch that what you heard was your snake passing gas along with feces. It's pretty normal. ;)

Haha thanks, apparently you learn something new every day :)

Snakes take some getting used to but it gets easier with a little practice (or asking long time keepers, lol). We're happy to share around here. ;)

This all happened pretty late at night, so this morning with a clear head it’s pretty hilarious 😂

And we love it when "problems" aren't really problems at all...:)

Reminds me of the one about an old man living in a retirement home. A nurse noticed him leaning in his chair, so they propped him back up. Then a little while
later, another nurse came along, noticed him leaning and pushed him back up all over again. Later his family came to visit & asked him how he liked it there, and
were they treating him good? He said "No! They won't let me pass gas!" :D
