Morph Copycats and Alternatives
i think it would be neat to start a list of some alternative morphs and combo's that would look similar to another morph that may either be hard to produce b/c of genes involved/odds, difficulty or deformities or other issues, etc. basically a list of designer morph copycats. maybe u are looking to breed or buy one, this can be helpful for u make the right choice.
here's my list so far...
Original Morph |
Challenges w/ Original |
Copycat/Alternative Morph |
Desired Look |
G-Stripe |
Recessive |
Puma or Super Stripe |
long and thick dorsal stripe |
Panda |
Deformities, difficulty and recessive |
SBP Champagne* |
white snake w/ black pattern like a Panda |
Piebald |
Recessive |
Disco Inferno |
melted pattern on white |
SBP/Super Cinnamon |
Deformities and difficulty |
Super Mahogany |
complete black/dark snake w/o deformities |
Super Butter/Super Lesser |
Deformity |
Butter/Lesser x Mojave |
complete white snake w/o deformity |
* this is still a Super susceptible to deformities
what other copycats are there?

Super interested in this! If anyone knows a good copycat for a banana without spots please let me know.

I think there is a combo with banana that eliminates most of the freckles, but I forget what it was... it was only 2 genes though.

whoops! i got them mixed up. i would remove Puma from a G-Stripe copy. a Puma is more like a Freeway/Highway. also add 8-Ball to SBP/Super Cinny.

u can eliminate most freckles from a Banana by adding a BEL gene (i.e. Banana Mojave aka Banjo) or Enchi. i think if u want a more traditional Banana look, get a Lavender Albino Ghost or maybe a Rainbow.
Re: Morph Copycats and Alternatives
Ultramel is similar to banana, it is a recessive though, so it costs more.

I have pictures around and can get more, but Enchi does not eliminate spots from a Banana. My boy Mango is Banana Enchi Orange Ghost and has minimal spotting (5 or 6 last shed) and they're pretty dark for him being a hypo.
Do the BEL line genes do better than this?

i think an Ultramel is more Caramel and Orange, rather than lavender and yellow. peeps mistaken it for a Caramel Albino.

hmm that's interesting about the Enchi but yes, BEL genes work alot better. my Banjo (aka what i call a Banana Mojave) has a tiny few far and between. he's in shed right now and i'll post pix next week or so when he's out. i've seen similar results w/ other Banana-BEL combos through their adulthood.
Re: Morph Copycats and Alternatives
Super Banana or Super Coral Glow won't get the black freckles or if they do it's extremely reduced
Problem is finding a female Banana or CG for a good price since they're harder to produce.
