Fiery bright colors! Celebrating Iggy's first perfect shed
I am proud to report that, after a disastrously messy shed in November (his first after I brought him home), and another rather wishy-washy one in January, Iggy had his first 100% flawless shed today!

Of course, post-shed always means an excuse to show off pictures of the fresh paint job, so here's the man of the hour himself:

Bumping up the overall humidity in the tub didn't seem to be quite enough during his preceding shed, so this time I decided to turn his rock lair into a makeshift humidity box. At first I tried putting in damp terrarium moss, but Iggy hated the smell of the moss and staunchly refused to go back in, so what you see above is what I made do with instead, which was to line the bottom of the hide with a thin layer of damp (but not soggy) paper towel. Looks kind of ugly, but apparently it worked.

Here's a "baby's first perfect shed (with me)" picture for both Iggy and Ravus. The top one is Ravus's from last month (I've only had him since January), and the bigger one on the bottom is Iggy's from today.

    Hurrah!

Congrats! It can be incredibly stressful for a keeper when things go wrong and def feels great when things go right!

You should be keeping a fire extinguisher next to the cage...;) Wow!

Thank you! I really was unhappily surprised when Iggy's second shed still wasn't up to par, since I was so sure I had his humidity dialed in by that point. But hey, gotta listen to what your snake is telling you! Here's to hoping his sheds from here on will go just as smoothly as this one.

Hahaha! Thank you! He really is practically blinding when his colors are at their peak.
