    Scar looking mark on snake
Was looking over my lil banana and I noticed this strange little mark on her stomach scales that looks like she had a thin blade scraped right in the middle of her stomach. I’m aware that it’s not what it is, but I’m curious as to what it really is. A “scar” for when she was in her egg maybe?

Picture isn't working...but from your description, yes...that's a snake-equivalent of a "belly button". ;) She was attached to her egg there, her "umbilicus".

Looks like she rubbed against something sharp-ish. Looks like an abrasion from an ornament or possibly substrate. I’d double check the enclosure for sharp objects. I guess it could be from the cord as well depending on the snakes age.

How are you seeing the picture & I can't? :( All I get is a "wrong turn" message...

Sorry if you can’t see the photo not sure what’s happening there. But she is fairly young. I don’t know her date of birth however. There and no sharp objects that I could find I’ve made sure of that before I added her. I assumed it is just her “belly button” just wanted others opinions.

If (& I still can't see it) it's the umbilicus, it's a short (maybe an inch) lengthwise mark (line) that looks like a perfectly healed slit in the middle of the tummy scutes.

Definitely the "belly button". Pics worked fine for me.

Here's an interesting video for info on them if you want to see more:

MarkL - age is irrelevant for this in my experience. I've got a 4+ year old male BP whose belly button is still evident and all of my others have it visible if you look in the right spot, though some are more obvious or noticable than on others.

Cool :) I’ve never seen that on any of my snakes. Only two have white bellies though so probably hard to see on the others. My eyesight must be worse than I thought [emoji23]

BPs are usually pretty easy to spot, especially when younger, but darker bellies are harder. Key to making it easy is starting to look in the right area.

I've spotted it on my corns, carpet, blood python, king snakes, milk snake, bull snake, and boas. Toughest for me is my eastern kingsnake since she is black on the belly.
