Premade rack heat tape sizing?

Hello everyone,

I was looking at buying a couple of the premade v-70 or cb-70 racks. After looking at them they all seem to come with 4 inch heat tape. Is this too small for these size tubs?

I run 3 inches with the same tubs.

What about the 1/3 hot spot rule? Is that not really necessary?

To me it's over killed in a tub leaving little room to thermoregulate, I can't think of any breeder using tubs keeping their animal on more than 4 inches of heat tape, which is why all manufactured racks come standard with 3 or 4 inches heat tape.
