    Still Fascinated
The last time I fed Kashmire, it struck me just how much I can learn from this wonderful creature.

Once again, I was fascinated with the patience and skillfulness of the hunt while he waited, frozen in his strike pose, for the mouse to approach to just the right distance to him before he struck (actually sort of scared me a bit because I wasn't expecting the strike when it happened).

How he held the coil until he was certain the mouse had died and gently testing to be sure by loosening a bit, not feeling any reaction from the mouse before uncoiling and enjoying the spoils of his efforts.

I have very little patience in my daily life and work, probably because everything at work seems to need to be done yesterday. If I can just take time to be patient like Kashmire, I'm sure I could appreciate the smaller things in life.

I am constantly enamored of this wonderful creature and feel honored to share my life and home with him.

Wonderful thought Robin, thank you for sharing it!

Obviously by the quote I use I agree completely. There are so many lessons that Mother Nature's creatures can teach us if we just slow down and step back a bit from our oh so busy and important human priorities.

Our family as a whole treasures our interactions with the snakes and feel blessed that we "stumbled" into this hobby.
