    The setup is finally ready!
After much help from you guys I think I’m ready for my first bp to arrive! This is my 20L. Both the UTH & CHE are on thermostats & temps are looking good. It was too late to sandwich the UTH thermo probe so it’s on the back of it (it goes probe, UTH, glass, substrate) According to the heat gun, the temps are accurate. Substrate is reptibark. I’ve got two hides & two thermometers. Being in the northeast the humidity is tricky but hits 50-60 when I run the humidifier. The wet towel trick also helps. I’ve back a background on 3 sides. Any other critiques? The little guy will be here Wednesday morning. I’m so excited! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...129bcf2ead.jpg

Another thing that can help humidity and temperature is to add some insulation. I have foam insulation on three sides of my larger cage. It helps hold heat in so that heaters run less which keeps it from drying out as much. It's not something that usually HAS to be done but it can help a bit.

How did you set up the UTH and the thermostat probe? I didn't understand. You have the the thermostat probe inside the tank under the substrate? Then glass and the UTH under the tank? I'm having issues with controlling the heat under the warm side myself. I still can't get it to reach the desired 90° on that warm spot.

The thermostat probe should go between the UTH and the glass bottom NOT inside the tank. I believe I used foil tape to secure my probe.

I have it taped to the back of the UTH.

I tried that when I got it at first and it didn't work. The foil tape kept falling off. So the thermostat probe was dangling. So I risked it and removed/peeled off the UTH to sandwich the thermostat prove between the glass and UTH mat. Yeah...I'm still not getting the 90° heat in the warm hide. The most I'm hitting is 85°.

Peel the heat mat off and go to ace or Home Depot or order HVAC metal heat tape. It works awesome it’s nice and sticky and will hold and handles the heat

Do you think I'm not getting that desired temperature because the mat isn't completely flat?

It is def possible... I like to take the whole mat down. It could be because your probe isn’t in the right spot so it’s not reading correctly and heating correctly.

Sometimes you just have to play w the temps to get what you want. Depends on the therm

Can you plug the mat in without the Thermostat and take a reading to see how hot it gets? This is to just rule out the mat can produce the temps you need.
