Where are you buying your cages? Any good site selling used cages?
    Hi,

I'm starting to get back into keeping snakes. Some time ago, there were a good amount of cage manufacturers (many copying Boaphile's approach). I remember Kingsnake.com had a healthy classified section with a ton of new/used cages being listed for sale.

Who are you guys purchasing your new cages from? I'm interested in 36" and 48" cages.

Anywhere on the web that has a healthy classified section of used cages? It's definitely not Kingsnake.com, unless I'm looking at the wrong section.:(

    Thanks

I’ve made 4 different purchases of cages on Craig’s List. Two were local and I had to travel 100 miles to get the others.

Used cages seem to be hit and miss in my market area. I may see some for sale for a few months straight, then not any at all for 6 months. It’s very erratic.

I will be selling a few off in a few months and will use Craig’s List. I’m not trying to sell here, just responding to the thread. I’m too far away from you anyway.

    Best of luck :)

I am constantly checking Craigslist. When they come up for sale they usually sell quick.

i agree that Craigslist is a very good option. also Facebook groups/marketplace is another good one. Kingsnake, Fauna, etc. are not the best IMO b/c unless the cages can get flat packed and shipped, most are local sales b/c shipping is usually too expensive.

lastly reptile expos are good alternatives. i often see used Vision cages, acrylic cages and sometimes nice PVC ones available. there's also usually someone selling $5-$10 used glass tanks and terrariums at my local show.

keep your eyes open and good luck.

Thanks for the responses. For CL, what section are you searching?
Under their Community category, I search under the Pets section...it's a very dry market in Austin.

For new cages I’m a big Reptile Basics fan. I’ve purchased four of their 36”x24”x12” cages and am very pleased with the product, shipping, and quick turn around times. I’m planning to revamp my reptile room and will be replacing my existing cages with these...assuming my tax return meets my plans.

Top of the line. Hard to beat $200 new for a T8 or T10. Ive had bad luck with used.
