    Trusting My Hygrometer
    Hi all,

I am about as knew as it gets round here having had my Royal for nearly two weeks now and I was after some advice. I have a White Python Hygrometer nearer the cooler end of the vivarium reading 57% humidity and on the hot end I have a cheap one from amazon reading about 45% Should I trust this reading and if so does it mean I should increase the humidity only the hot side to bring it level with the cooler side or is the reading off?

    Many Thanks everyone :)

I'm not sure what hygrometers you have. Could you post pictures of them? Use the Tapatalk app to add pictures.

If either isn’t digital I wouldn’t trust them.

Try the salt test to calibrate your hygrometers and see how accurate they are:

    Thanks for the replies,

the are are both digital. The white python is a fairly expensive one that sits in the enclosure where as the cheap one from amazon has a probe.

I have an Accurite hygrometer and it’s very sensitive. It reads 68% near the water bowl on the cool end and 50% under the heat panel. They are considered pretty accurate on this forum but I’ve never calibrated it. The reading discrepancy between the two sounds about right for the placement of your hygrometers.

Here is a link to the one he owns...... It seems on par with most hygrometers on Amazon but you’d never know for sure without calibration.

I don’t sweat humidity (no pun intended) as long as it reads around 55% normally and mid 70’s during sheds.
