Wanna Be Black Tail Cribo Hits the 500 mark!

My black tail cribo boy Goldar has hit the 500g mark today and has nearly doubled in size since I received him back in September!

I call him the “wannabe” because as you will see from the pics below, he’s not exactly your standard BTC. I saw the parents, I purchased from a reputable breeder and have seen many of his other babies with jet black tails... my boy wants to be different and has this mottled unicolor look to him that I don’t think is going away.

When I inquired about him the breeder was hesitant to sell because he had thought he may be unique and wanted to holdback and try and breed out. He also had to hand feed and handle him a lot to get him going on food, which still surprises me to this day based on the way he gobbles food for me. Anyway after some poking and prodding and convincing be let him go to me and I am really happy with him.

I think because of all the human interaction he had as a baby and with the breeder he has such a sweet disposition.

Excited to see him at twice this size and then some...!!

What a cool species and fun snake. Yea he does drop big ones but I knew that going in and he has been kept on paper towel for easy clean up! I can’t wait to see him as a 7 plus footer.

Thankfully he is calm and chill and a friendly guy. Unless food is involved !

What a magnificent fellow he is! Nothing like an alert & active snake that's also interactive with you, & unusual on top of that. How fortunate that he had
a head-start with handling...do keep us updated. I can remember wanting one of these badly, before getting distracted with other species. :gj: Way cool!

I really wanted and was in search of an indigo and as I looked and decided I came across him and got that “feeling” and well it’s been right!

i agree that because of all the early handling and interaction he really has just such a tame easy going disposition that I hope he keeps into his large adult size. Totally cool fella

very nice! and wow, his first half is really darker than i expected and not yellow/golden. did his colors mellow out?

what are u feeding this handsome fellow? have u tried anything creative like fish or chicken feet? j/k maybe when he's older. these awesome guys are true garbage disposals.
