Personally, I think there's some truth on both sides of that exchange. ;) Steve Irwin was an entertainer first & I took exception to some of what I saw
him doing...that doesn't mean I think that what he did was "all bad", nor does PETA "walk on water". It's a fine line we walk when we seek to educate the
public about wild creatures, because when it comes to "unpopular & scary" animals, you have to get their attention somehow. Steve was very adept at that,
also humorous, charming & entertaining. Crikey! But to make a watchable show, yes, he harassed plenty of wild animals, some of which were undoubtedly
worse off afterwards...IMO. (PETA is far from perfect either...& FYI, I am NOT a member, though on some issues, I am glad they make some noise, while I
also think they take some things too far.)

Interestingly, UberFacts said nothing about their opinion about them either, they weren't praising him or anything. Just stating facts.

If Steve Irwin harasses wildlife during filming and the ratings went up mainly because of that reason: it is we, the audience, fault.

If Steve Irwin harasses wildlife on and off camera, then he is not that great of a guy after all. The way to educate can be done in so many ways.

Peta is a cult disguised as people who loves animals. They are also a bunch of hypocrites, blasting shock factor of animal testing and factory farming to get the audience on their side. Yea, animal testing sucks but we got penicillin, vaccines and many other treatments and cures, the same treatment I bet the CEO at one time or many times of her life and her loved ones relied on to stay healthy and alive. Yea, factory farming sucks so do something constructive about it like buying land and advocate for more humane way of farming. Oh wait, they are vegetarians so factory farming or not it would still not be acceptable to them.

For what it is worth, Steve Irwin did something remarkable. He made a lot of fans and people started to look at reptiles in a better light.

Past tense please (harrassed, not harrasses) as Steve Irwin is no longer with us. Personally, I rarely watched his show so no, I'm not responsible for the show ratings.
TV & other media is a tricky thing...enough blame to go around for sure. Advertisers don't pay for programs to bore people...but while entertaining & enlightening, Steve
also inspired kids (& adults) everywhere to emulate his interaction with wild creatures...something that I fear has done as much bad as good, as overpopulation takes
away more & more wild spaces they need to survive.

As for PETA, they don't think we should even have pets! :O -so yeah, they are sort of cultish & "out-there". I am NOT a vegan/vegetarian, but all meat & dairy products
I consume are bought from humane/organic/grass-fed/etc local sources. I also buy organic produce most of the time. Factory farming is atrocious & not even healthy
for us, the consumers: cows fed corn/grain is not natural, & when animals are poorly raised, they are then given antibiotics (so they stay healthy enough to sell!) that
result in resistant germs that endangers human health as well. It's a big subject...& drug companies aren't very interested in researching new antibiotics that we now
need, because there's more money for them in "daily" medications (such as those given for high cholesterol, etc). We know better & need to DO MUCH better.
