    BP hates sphagnum moss.
Everytime pre-shed I put any sphagnum moss in Senua's hide or enclosure, she migrates around, ducks her head into the hides, removes herself until I remove the moss, then she will make use of it....?

Cool side 74, hot is 92, ambient around 83, and humidity readings are 60% on hot, 68% cool side.

Does she simply not like it? Does not like her hides disturbed?

I would bet she hangs around it when you aren't around, like at night. But remember, sphagnum moss isn't supposed to be like a toy or a bedding for them. They won't "play with it", they won't actively seek it out to lay on, etc. It is just a useful tool to increase humidity.

Remember, it should only be damp. No one wants to be hanging around in sopping wet moss.

My snake had to get used to the spagnum moss but after a while when he tried going inside the hide with the moss he realized that the moss was actually really fun:) maybe your snake just has to get used to it. although it could be that your snake just doesn’t like the moss

She gets really fussy, refuses to enter any hides, and goes into spooked mode. I have removed it all, she is now in her hide. She will avoid her hides for days at a time if I put any moss in, sometimes hiding in the open.

Mine didn't seem to care for it either, and I think it has a strong smell and that may be why. I put a hardy reptile-safe potted plant in a heavy pot on the cool side of his enclosure and as long as I keep the plant watered, the humidity is pretty good. Maybe try that?

What plant are you using? I’m looking for one my adult bp won’t bulldose and one that doesn’t need sunlight :)

haha! All plants need light. My snake's plant seems to be doing fine being near the cool side with lighting on the enclosure during the day. This one has been hardy so far, but he still breaks it a bit. It's okay . . . it's an inexpensive plant and seems to still be doing okay. The one in my BP's enclosure is in moist soil that I water a couple times a week.

For my BP I have the plants in soil. For my ratsnake I have them in water because she likes to soak sometimes, and she likes to dig up all of her potted plants. LOL

The other plant I've had success with is this one, it's a common houseplant and works both in soil and in water. Right now I have them in my beta fish tanks, but when some of those grow out longer I am going to try them in the snake cages as ground cover to hide under.

It's VERY important to plant them in safe soil. A lot of soil has too much fertilizer in it that can be harmful. Luckily these plants are hardy and can take just about any soil (or water) they don't need fancy soil.

Hold on . . I'll post some pictures below of my enclosures.

I notice all mine aren’t exactly fans of it either. Like previously mentioned, it’s not really there for their pleasure as it is for their benefits. And yes, I’ve seen them avoid their hides because of it. The plants are very cool ideas, long as you get them to shed properly, that’s what matters. I’ve also noticed every once in a while I get a reaction to my arm hair, like they don’t like the way it feels either.
