    Hi from NYC
I'm 37, live on the Upper West Side in NYC, and manage an endoscopy facility (RN). I'm a new reptile owner. I have always wanted to own reptiles but was previously in a marriage with someone who wasn't a fan so I'm a little late to the game. I got Puffy, my bearded dragon, in April 2018 and immediately fell in love. I know I'm projecting a bit but I seriously can't believe the personalities reptiles have. After Puffy became full grown my overwhelming urge to get a snake took over and after about a month of solid research I got Noodle, my 1.5yo female ball python, on 1/21/19 from an owner who had several snakes (cousin is a breeder) and was looking to decrease his collection.

This site has been so so helpful in giving me info on preparing her enclosure, not handling her every chance I get, and not freaking out when she doesn't eat. I figured I'd register and add to it when I can.

Looking forward to chatting more!

:welcome: Always good to know this site has helped you...that's the goal...well, that and causing serious "reptile-envy". :D

I wasn't a "kid" when I got into snakes/reptiles either...doesn't matter, only that we "found them" eh? Sad that many people are so closed-minded about
reptile pets....beardies are great pets, so much personality! (even though they require more involved care than most snakes do)

    Better "late" than never! ;)

Very sad - especially snakes, they are so misunderstood. I can't tell you how many people told me Noodle was going to grow very big and eat me. It's unfortunate they have such a stigma because they are so sweet and shy.

The larger ones are very capable of suffocating you if they get around your neck and you can't get them off but eat you....nah

Thank you all so very much for the nice and warm welcome! It's been a while since I've been here because work has been a nightmare. Actually when I get home in the evenings, I try not to look at my phone or my laptop in order to unwind and do some rituals to get myself ready for bed. :rolleye2:
