yep they're awesome hunters. both species have also been know to take down Crocs. in one example w/ video evidence from a few years back, some tourists on a walkabout witnessed a long battle between one of these pythons and a croc. tho the struggle took hours, it took the python only 15minutes to swallow it's prize!

I'd like to hear about the differences and similarities of the Olive and Scrub.

Any behaviors that they share or set them apart?

Also, how does the scrubby behave compared to the carpets you have?

They're both great snakes but other than the facts that their husbandry is pretty much the same, and they both eat like zombies, they're very different beasts. The olive is definitely more active. He'll perch when he's basking but he moves around his enclosure a lot than the scrub who's usually perched whenever he's out. I'd say the scrub behaves more like the carpets in terms of hanging out in his enclosure. The scrub also hides more than the olive or any of my snakes for that matter.

The biggest difference I've seen so far is in their temperaments. The scrub is far more defensive, especially inside his enclosure. He's more manageable once he's out but he's still pretty unpredictable. I wear gloves whenever I take him out. He's going to musk most of the time and he's going to bite about half the time. I don't trust him anywhere near my face like I do my other critters. He's just not a fun snake to handle for me because I can't relax and have to stay on alert with him. He's not one I would let my guard down with yet. I hope that changes with time but I love and accept him just the way he is. The olive on the other hand is as laid back as he can be. He was a little nippy when I first got him but he outgrew it quickly. He's probably the most food driven of my snakes but he's also just as mellow as any of the others when there's no food around.

I see the same temperamental differences between the scrub and the carpets. The carpets are a lot more easy going and even though they're active during handling I'm not worried about any of them biting me in the face!
