Took in a new rescue last night. Looks like a lavender albiano female(?).
I will sent photos tonight. Got a call from the animal shelter. I am on their list to call for constrictors when one gets turned in to them. Well someone abandoned one in an enclosure when they left their apartment. My friend that works at the animal shelter picked up the phone and called me right away shortly after the animal was picked up. I checked her out. Skinny side and looks to be about a year or so old? Mites infested. Treatment and quarantine has began. A general vet visit is going to be set up today to have her checked out. She took FT small rat last night like it was going to be months before another feeding. Poor noodle. I will have her sexed this weekend. The short handling I did she was calm and easy going. She looks to be somewhat well fed even if on the smaller end of what she needed. Once she had access to water last night she spent several minuets drinking it down. The noodle will be rehabbed and rehomed in 3 to 5 months depending on her progression and if I can find someone worthy of caring for it.

I have treated her 2 days in a row to kill the mites and will keep treating her every day for 2 weeks. She is being kept as far away from everyone else. She has them bad. Will be making a vet visit today to see if there is anything else I can do for the poor girl. I strip down and treat myself before leaving the room and have clothing just for that room. (call me paranoid if you want). Not taking any chances. They are burrowed under scales everywhere. Her eyes. After initial treatment have not seen any alive but still digging them off her. Guess after her next shed will know if everything I am doing has cured her of the infestation or not.

I appreciate the noble gesture but I wouldn't risk my other animals health to take in a stray. How are you treating for mites? I've heard really good things about the Frontline treatment method.

I don't look for rescues. People see how I care for mine and offer. If I don't want to keep a rescue I have a deal worked out with a local pet store that will help rehab any project I don't want to or can't handle. It is a small store and good practices by the owner.
I take all rescues and deal with most that I get without help. My education shows has really taken off and I try to help people become better owners. I am far from perfect and not the most experienced but am willing to try.
