Tub setup with a heat mat
Alright, so this is about my hognose’s tub but the colubrid section gets almost 0 attention and i figured this is just an “in general” tub question. My heat mat that i have under my new hog’s tub isn’t getting the inside of the tub hot enough. I have it on my thermostat set to 98 (probe in between the heat mat and tub, outside the tub) and the spot directly above the mat inside the tub is only 80°. But the heat mat is a solid 98°. (using infrared temp gun)

The tub i got doesn’t sit directly on top of the mat, it has built in feet so it sits about half-1 inch off the mat. Is that my problem?

Btw, i didn’t get one of the adhering mats, it’s one that just sits on the surface below the tub. Thanks!

That's it. The same problem I have with my Morelia tub, but he spends all his time on his perch... so I haven't try to correct it.

Hm, thanks. Think i’m either gonna go get an adhesive heat pad or try to tape this one to the bottom of the tub.

Got a temporary solution while i wait to get the adhesive backed heat mat. Used styrofoam to prop up the heat mat and get it closer to the bottom of the tub. Not pretty, but works!
