What kind of substrate? (may or may not be an issue...)

Best if you have someone to help hold & restrain the snake. You'll need something like a tongue depressor that is SAFE (no sharp edges & not anything
that could break either, like glass ) to open the snake's mouth by putting some pressure from the side & then to prop it open. This is NOT easy & if you
aren't up to the task, let a vet do it. *****You don't want to injure the snake's mouth just to remove substrate.***** "First, do no harm"

OR: try rinsing the substrate out by holding his face under a mild stream of water (under a running faucet). Easier & safe!

OR: try offering food that might take the foreign material out along with it when he swallows (if he's easy to feed?).

OR: you might be able to grab it using tweezers, again with help to restrain your snake. You're correct, they do not cooperate & say "ahh"....

Yup, me too. Never fun. But I've only had to intervene a few times, usually they get it on there own

It’s that coconut fibre stuff he had a accident while feeding, he struck but only glanced the rat and ended up mouth open face first in the substrate.

Then he hid in his hide feeling sorry for himself.

I'd try using water first...he might even open his mouth to drink if you dip his face into his water bowl, but if not, try under running water.

I have found a good way to rinse a snakes mouth is to take a room temperature water bottle, and poke a hole in the cap with a pin. The water wont come out if you flip the bottle upside down unless you squeeze it. This gives you a nice, soft stream of water that you can aim instead of just a sink.
