I think I paid 5 bucks for a roll at Home Depot. 3 years or so ago. Still have 3/4 of the roll left

That's pretty much all I use. Flexwatt (both narrow & wide versions), similar to what is sold by Reptile Basics, Bean Farm & other sources.

I'm tired of ppl saying it doesn't raise the ambient temps in cages...hello, heat rises! BUT, there are other UTH types that put out more heat than tapes.

And I have mostly colubrids, snakes that do NOT need super warm cages, but rather a warm hide to lay in as needed. Also, if you use a thick substrate
(like to add humidity or allow burrowing) that will act as an insulator & the heat not only won't adequately rise into your cage but can also overheat the
tape itself if you're not careful; you also want to follow installation instructions (ie. leave a few air gaps for the tape to breathe). So think about what
you want to use it for...not every product is right for every job, ya? You can, of course, insulate a cage & that will trap more heat inside, as long as your
substrate allows the heat to adequately rise; substrates that have air gaps work best. (ie. orchid bark, paper shreds/Carefresh, indoor/outdoor carpet)

Are you talking about a heat CABLE, for keeping pipes defrosted in winter? 'Cause I've never seen heat tapes in Home Depot, much less for $5-???

If so, I wanna shop in your Home Depot. A roll of it no less...maybe a huge mis-mark by someone who had no clue
what they were doing? It happens sometimes.

But I have a feeling we're talking about different things...? When I put in "heat tape" @ Home Depot, I don't get anything other
than heat cables, or foil insulation tape, or 'heat bond carpet seaming tape' for repairs???

Have you actually USED this for heating a cage?

Yes we are talking about 2 different things. Just realized that. This is high temp tape. I use it to tape temp probes to the UTH. It's just tape that can withstand high temps without melting.
