    Questions about Cages?
Alright so this maybe a quite simple question, but I really just am not sure. I have a young Bp and I keep him in a 20g cage with all kinds decorations along with all the necessary items. I really want to build him a cage myself, something other than just a glass tank. I already have my design and idea for this new home. My only real question is can I make it too big. I mean it's not gonna be huge or anything, but what is too big, and what is a recomended size. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but i don't want to build something that isn't gonna work. Thanks

I'm with you on the cage questions. i would like to have 2 BP in one 30 gal tank. i was thinking of building one about that size or putting a plexi glass divider in it but I'm not sure how big to make it so when they become full grown i wont need to build another. i wish there was a math formula to be able to figure it out

From my understanding, if your enclosure is too big, you'll just need more hide boxes to make it feel secure. If you stick with the one hide box on the warm side, and one on the cool side in an enclosure that's too large for the animal, it will feel insecure. A 20g tank is plenty large for a growing BP. Once they get to the adult phase of life, then consider building an enclosure based on the length of the full grown animal. The common formula I've seen is that the snake needs to fit across and half way back. i.e. a 6 foot snake would need a 4.5 foot wide enclosure. (Just what I've read, I'm keeping my exisiting normal in a 20g wide tank right now, and the 4 females on order are awaiting the rack I'm getting for them.)

    Hope this helps,
