Sliding glass doors or Swing Acrylic on AP Cages???

I'm getting ready to order an AP T-10. For those of you that own PVC cages, do you prefer sliding or swing doors? I'm leaning towards sliding but was curious about what everyone's experiences or preferences were. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I also have an AP T10 and I got the sliding doors. I really like it! The sliding glass seems to offer a bit more visibility than the swing doors. Plus I'm kind of a klutz so I know that with swing doors I would eventually hit myself or other objects with them haha.

Which snake are you putting in there? Getting a new addition?

Na one of my boas is due for an upgrade so I'n going to put her in a T-10. I was thinking along the same lines about swinging doors. Thanks for the input!

I have an AP A25 with swing out doors (s/o), and 5 AP’s with glass sliding doors (s/d), and 3 more AP’s on order with s/d. I also have 2 AP clones that came with plastic s/d and I replaced the plastic doors with glass.

I love the swing out function of s/o doors, but I am very disappointed in how APs fell short. Within a few months one door had dipped. I have to lift it up as I’m pulling forward to open. Secondly, the corners started warping winthin 3-4 months later. I had to add extra latches to prevent escape. And lastly, they are wimpy with little integrity and lack a proper support wall. As you can see, I haven’t bought any other cages with these doors.


The reason I had to replace the plastic s/d with glass on the clones were due to escapes. One of my Carpets, 7 feet long at the time, warped the Plastic by pressing on the door and escaped. The next time he blew the doors and tracks off due the spring action and the energy caused by such. My six foot Boa did the same to the other clone cage.

To to put it simply, the glass s/d work and work well. They are nice and heavy, and smooth operating as well.

I like the drop down doors on my Boaphiles and BoaMaster, but I rank them second place. For my needs, especially for big Snakes, I prefer glass s/d, which are definitely on the the 8 foot cages on order

I prefer sliding glass doors. Is easy to open a little and allow to enter and close without the issue of swinging the door shut if your animal decides to run and get hung in the door.

I have both and i’ll never get a swing again. What a Pain they are and also if you hit them they crack at the hinge, also the swing is acrylic and they’re scratched to heck and look like crap. All it takes is a Paper Towel and they are all swirled.
Both my glass sliders are the bomb and thats what I’m ordering this spring to replace the swing acrylic one.

I prefer glass sliding doors, because that acrylic gets scratched easy and then you have to replace it if it bothers you. Plus you get bigger openings from the sliding doors.
