    Help With Heating
ok I need help with getting my heat right..I have a 36×18×12 pvc enclosure. It has a VE RHP and I have a VE 100 thermostat..I have the probe under the rhp hanging about 3".. the temp on the floor is 90 degrees and inside the hide is like 87.. the middle is like 82 and the cool side is like 77-78... but when I put the temp gun on the rhp it's like 170.. isn't that wayyy too hot? keep in mind I haven't put any substrate in yet.. just hide and water dish... i'm trying to prepare BEFORE the noodle lol...

That sounds about perfect honestly. The face of the RHP will get pretty hot, but the snake can’t lay on the ceiling so it won’t get burned.

I’d agree with jmcrook. I’ve hit my rhp with the temp gun while it was heating and got 140-150F. Generally speaking you shouldn’t have anything under the rhp closer to it than 6 inches. For most setups, this isn’t a concern.

cool... What's the best way to secure the probe? I know I can't really do anything if it's hanging but maybe secure the back end so it doesn't move...
