    BP heat.
Am getting another BP next month. But beforehand I am trying to get the enclosure set up right. Right now I have 4 heat lamps set up on it with two white heat bulbs and two green heat bulbs. I have two lamps set up on a thermostat to shut off when the ambient temperature reaches 88 degrees. I don't know if it's the bulbs I'm using or if I have the sensor put in the wrong spot. But the temp has never gone over 84 degrees. And sometimes shows as low as 78 degrees with all four lamps on. So could it possibly be the temp is good with all four lamps going and I have the thermostat sensor in a bad spot. Or what. It's a 36gal acrylic tank. And I have a large undertank heater on it also. Snake is being shipped and should get here February 4th. Weather permitting. So I have till then to try and figure this out.

    Hi,

You could try insulating the back sides and bottom of the tank with foam board or cork? You could also cover part of the top as ( guessing with the amount of lamps ) it sounds like a screen top. Or you could get higher wattage lamps on the thermostat - say arounf 100 or 150 watt red lamps ( either way you need to make sure the snake cannot get to them and be burned as a result.

Showing us pictures of your set up would help us give a lot more specific advice if you can.

And it is a screen top. But overall it only about half the top is screened. And all 75w bulbs. Thinking of getting 100-125w bulbs.
