    What took you so long? :rofl: Yeah, I figured I'd show some love for my fave snakes this way...the goofy sounding name was supposed to inspire curiosity.

    I could probably go out in my back yard and catch a rat snake.

    You're more likely to find another kind of Texas rat snake, one not so friendly. Trans Pecos come from a limited area of TX, NM & Mexico, & I fear they'll be hunted
    or impacted by development to extinction. TPs and Bairds rat snakes are both very docile pets from much the same area...in line with what most people here (BP
    keepers) would enjoy knowing as pets. Both are available captive-bred. TPs stay smaller (about 4' adult size) while Baird's can get up to 5-6' long, but remember
    they are slender, so it's not like keeping a boa of the same length.
