DIY enclosure vent placement
I’m building new enclosure for my ball pythons. Each enclosure is 4’ long by 24” deep by 20” high. I know that is taller than a lot of people go. Anyways, I’m trying to figure out where to put the vents for airflow and proper heat/humidity. I see some on the back, some on the sides, and I read somewhere that I should put the vent low on the hot side and high on the cool side. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I don’t want to make the holes until I know it is correct. If it matters, they have sliding front doors. Thanks in adVance for any help.

I must be wired up differently than you guys ..
Presuming you (us) want the warm side to be warmer and the cool side to be cooler .. so I presumed high vents on the warm side and low vents on the cooler side to allow the heat to escape easier. ...

I can see that, especially with belly heat. I should modify what I said, maybe best to have both sides equal, higher up in the enclosure? That way heat does not stay trapped? Mine are all equal height.

We need a scientist / physics bod to clarify :)

This looks as though the heat mat looks too large for my liking but the vents are high over the warm side ..

Re: DIY enclosure vent placement
Thanks for the replies. It seems that it isn’t as important as I though it might be. I guess I’ll just go with where all the pro cage builders put them. I’m starting with less vents and going to do a trial run without the snakes in them and I’ll add more vents if needed. Thanks again.
Re: DIY enclosure vent placement
I’m building mine with 2 vents at the top on either corner in the back, and the intakes will be low across the plexiglass
