But if they're able to do that, it usually means the prey item is too small. You can bump up in size.

No actually it was probably pushing the limit of it being too big it was a pretty good-sized rat pup and he's probably not quite even 3 months old yet

It happens to the best of them. ;)

Mine did it a few times. One of the times I'm pretty sure she bit the bladder and got a mouth full of urine. She let that one sit for a while before trying again
