    Ambient temp too low!
Okay so have a 32 quart sterilite tub. Its not very tall but not way shallow. (23½" Length, 16" Width, 6⅞ Height) (Or 60.3cm x 40.6cm x 17.5cm). I have 10 holes drilled on the long sides for airflow. I use a mix of plantation soil and coco husk. Since the tub is pretty big for a hatching, I have several hides and plants for cover. The only issue is that the ambient temp is too low. I have a UTH set to 91°F that covers about 1/3 of the tub. I have an infrared temp gun and I when I check the temperature it usually reads between 69-74 which is really scaring me. I got a second thermostat and UTH in an attempt to raise the temperature but it really didn't do a whole lot. Please help!

I’ve never done tubs, either tanks or reptile enclosures. Hopefully others will chime in. I know there’s been many of thread on the subject with most adding lights or che’s. Like I said hopefully others will help you work out a fix.

What I've done personally is just to heat the whole room.

The UTH will inevitably raise the ambient temp by a bit, especially inside the hide which is probably around 80 if the hot spot is 91. An ambient of 74 in the rest of the tub isn't bad.

I don't think there's any other way to create ambient temp in a tub of only 6 inches tall besides UTH and heating the room.

I would get a digital thermometer and check the temp gradient from hot to low inside the tub. The infrared thermometer is telling you surface temps not ambient temps. That’s how mine is anyway. The accurite thermometers work really well.
