strange behaviors
Ror is almost done with his shed, just got like 1/4 of his body left, {including head and eye caps :frustrate} i've been soaking him and rubbing him with a wet towel for a couple of days... its coming off slowly. He doesn't like the rubbing as hes still very head shy. what I have been noticeing though is that he is constantly opening his mouth. when i was handeling, hed almost yawn sometimes.... {thought he might bite me} and sometimes he'd just sit there with his mouth kinda opening. i havn't really noticed any irregular breathing and I'm hoping this yawning is because of his shed. Also, i went away for the weekend and when i came back the humidity had dipped down to 35%, its now back to 60, but could that breif period of dryness make him yawn too? or worse give him an infection?? any suggestions to why hes doing this would be appreciated!

Re: strange behaviors
try a 1 or 2 hr. soak with room temp water in a plastic tub with the lid on. don't know about the yawning, listen closely for any wheezing or gurgling sounds. pry open the mouth and check for infections or alot of moisture or drool. i don't think one day at 35% would do alot of damage.

Re: strange behaviors
an impatial shed can also be handled by putting the snake in a tied moist pillow case or snake bag over night. i take everything out of the cage when i do this. the snakes get moist and warm and the skin comes off when they are looking for a way out and rubbing agaist the enclosure. they do all the work themselves, and for a head shy snake it seems less invasive. i will normally find the snake asleep in the morning. it does not seem to bother mine as much as the soaking and rubbing. i am not sure about the yawning, but my snake yawns sometimes. i would keep close watch for continuance of that.
