Just found this in a collection - unusual pattern for a normal?
We were re-organizing the collection that I work at, deciding what to sell, etc. and we came across this snake, labeled as a normal. I thought the pattern was reminiscent of a toffee, and sure enough, both of this animals parent were heterozygous for toffee!

As i understand it, the toffee morph is recessive, so even if this animal is a het, the pattern should not show through.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

I'd lean your direction. Definitely not a normal.

That's just a reduced pattern normal, nothing unusual, back when I had normals they were all reduced pattern.

    e

Toffee/Candy IS recessive (and compatible with Albino by the way) .....but that doesn't necessarily mean hets don't show. For example, certain recessive mutations have "markers" if you will where you can actually tell they are het for a trait. Piebald is a good example, having "railroad tracks" in the het offspring.

If you think it is a possible Het-you would have to breed it to prove it.

It looks like an interesting normal, I like the black puzzle 🧩 bands.

I agree on reduced normal. Looks almost identical to mine and that's what she is to the best of my knowledge.
