Ciri Trying to Wrap Without a Proper Catch
Tonight, I experienced something a little weird...

I was just about to feed Ciri, and as usual, she had her head pretty close to the top of the tub as I came over, so I had the rat a bit far away. I held it in front of her, and she tried to strike it and missed. Instead of stopping and going for another strike, however, she suddenly started to curl her body as if she was trying to strangle the rat, even though there was nothing there and her mouth was completely closed. She tried re-striking a few seconds later, missed again, and continued this "phantom curl" until she finally managed to grab the rat with her tail and squeeze down on it, though never taking it in her mouth.

As of right now I just checked her tub and she has begun to eat, which I suppose means she knew that she didn't catch it properly and that there was nothing in her mouth, but the way she acted really surprised me. I didn't think it to be a neuro issue, as she was always listed as just a super pastel, but im curious what some of you might think caused this. I couldn't find any threads about this when I looked around online, though I didn't look all too hard just yet. If anyone has any ideas on why she did this, or if you've experienced this before, i'd love to hear it.

I've never seen a snake do that, so I'm only guessing here...but if I missed that badly, I'd pretend I caught it too & hope you didn't notice. Silly sneks-
they're more evolved than we thought if they can be embarrassed. ;)

    I've had that happen before.

Where a BP didn't strike but proceeded to try to throw loops around a rat, esp. if they felt that rat against their body. They stiffen their body and throw it around the rat and then start squeezing and eating.

    As to why?

    I dunno.

But it doesn't mean they have neurological damage.
They just have a awkward eating day ;)
