    Howdy, new to forum
    Hello,

I'm Tim, from Maine and brand new to the forum. Newbie when it comes to BP's but I did have several snakes as a teenager about a million years ago (gophers, garters and a Surinam red tail. I have two boys (9 & 16) who are interested in snakes so this time around I want to try BP's. Have been soaking up everything I can (BHB, Olympus vids and others) and reading articles, where I stumbled into this forum. So glad I found it as I have been in several car related forums and know the benefits to be had. I know I'm probably several months away from ownership as I want to be as ready as possible before bringing some critters home. Want to attend a couple of shows first with my sons so they can get the feel for the hobby. Will probably do some breeding down the line but not for awhile. Anywho, I look forward to conversing with you all and hope I don't ask too many dumb questions. And yes, I know the "search" field is my friend.:D Cheers

:welcome: Tim...hey, we're glad to have you join us. You're doing the right thing too, researching before you bring home any snakes or their equipment.
And don't worry about asking questions...we all asked them too at one time or the other...that's a big part of why we're here.

Gotcha, but I have to say the research I've done so far on different morphs and what breeds to what and produces a what has my head spinning! I'm hoping that it will all just "click" one day and it'll make sense.....not betting on it though.

It's not your imagination: some of the same morphs are called different things by different breeders. :rolleye2: And then there's the totally new ones...

Me, I pay little attention to morphs as I'm not a beeper-keeper at all (though I've had about 10 in the past), so I can't really help you with that.

If you haven't found it yet, it's "fun" to look thru Morph Market (& as others here can attest, it also leads to drooling & yelling "charge!").

Welcome Tim! I’ve only been here a few months, but this is by far the best snake forum I’ve joined, past or present. Great folks and lots of experienced keepers and breeders. As for Morph Market....great place to window shop...and shop. :D

I'm afraid to say I found MM before this forum. And the morph calculator is neat, but I wish it would be somehow able to produce a picture of what two different set of genes/snakes would produce.

If the name of the morph is in blue print, you can click the link to see the animal. My only caution is that you get results with more than the specified genes. You can also filter searches to include or exclude different genes. MM is dangerous...my new girl will be here Saturday if the weather holds. :D

Hey Tim! Welcome aboard. This is a great forum!

Read up and don't be shy.

Ask questions and we are all here to help.

You are being smart and taking your time. Figure out what you want, get a proper setup (right size, right type of enclosure for heat, humidity, security, etc.), get a good thermostat, good heating element(s), etc. Get everything set up first and dialed in, then bring the new addition home.

That's the way to avoid 99% of all issues.

Either way, and again, we are here to help!

Good luck on your journey and keep us posted!
