    Thermostat probe placement?
Setting up a glass tank setup with a zoo med uth. I have heard so many different things from people but no clear answer. Where to I set the probe for the thermostat at? In between heat mat and glass? But then too much air bubbles will form and not heat correctly? If it is this was do I need the probe directly smuggled in the middle? Or should I put it inside the tank where it can be pushed off the heat mat so it will the over heat? 😂 please help a rookie out.

Outside the tank, between the tank and UTH is the proper placement

    Quote:

Inside the enclosure the probe can

    • Be dislodged
    • Peed on
    • Submerged by spilled water bowl

All of which will lead the probe to cool down all of which will lead the temps to spike up and become dangerous.

When placed outside of the enclosure none of this can happen.

So do I need to put the probe directly in the middle of the heat pad? Do I need to use any tape of is the sticky side of the under tank heater good enough because it’s wedged in between the mat and the outer bottom glass?

I would put it in the middle unless you have a temp gun. If you do have a temp gun, find the hottest part of the heating pad and put the probe there between the glass and the heating pad.
