BP not pooping/eating

Hi all, I’m reaching out today because I’m a bit concerned for my snake and I need some advice.

My BP is about 3-4 years old, he’s a male and he hasn’t had a meal (medium rat) since 10/4 and is refusing to eat.

Also, he hasn’t pooped since 9/24, but Iv seen urine in his tank.

Iv believe my husbandry is up to par for him, now I just don’t know what’s wrong.

I know BPs sometimes don’t eat in the winter for breeding season or whatever, maybe that’s the case?

As far as not pooping, I’m trying a soak right now, so far to no success. Considering a trip to the vet.

If his weight and body condition are good then I wouldn’t worry. Also medium rats are bigger than most males will ever need to eat. Smalls should suffice for their entire adult life. My 9yr old male, Geoffrey, regularly goes off food as early as October and will fast till as late as May. I did have him eating mediums for a short bit a few years back and that’s when his feeding was the most sporadic and his longest fast (oct-June).
Offer a small in a couple weeks, if he refuses then try again three weeks later. Eventually he’ll eat.

I agree with jmcrook, he sounds pretty normal. It's fairly common for BPs to refuse food now & then, especially once they're adults as yours is. I'd not run to
the vet if this is your only concern, as long as you're fairly sure nothing else is going on. (-like noisy breathing? -possible RI-?)

Do not soak this snake, common sense will tell you that if a snake does not eat for an extended amount of time it will not defecate instead it will use the previous last meals for energy and body functions.

Make sure your husbandry is optimum make changes if you think it will help your animal resume feeding and wait it out.

One if mine just went off for 5.5 months and didnt crap for 6.5. As of last month she picked up were she left off in spring without a hiccup. Keep your temps and humidity correct and dont worry...

All the others are right. A month and a half without food is nothing for a healthy BP.

And like mentioned above, no food = no poop. Nothing to worry about. No need for a soak. It'll have no benefit and will likely stress the snake. (Unless there is reason to believe there is constipation, usually identified by "sausage butt").

Also no need for a vet visit if the lack of eating and pooping is your only concern.

Lastly, I agree that small rats are plenty for almost all male BPs, so switching to smalls is fine fir am adult male BP.

At this point, I would just make sure husbandry is on point and only offer every 10-14 days (small rat) until he breaks his food strike.
