Thermostat plugged into a surge protector?
I have had my racks plugged into surge protectors and surge protectors plugged directly into my thermostats. I have done this for years with no problems at all, but read today that you need to use non surge power strips if you plug directly into your thermostats. I only use herpstat and VE proportional thermostats and would like some insight on this. Thanks!

Title should be surge protector plugged into thermostat? My mistake.

I've been running a bunch of VE's near their max rated wattage capacity for many years with a comical amount of cheap 'surge protected' power strips daisy chained to them: no issues here (other than a blown fuse every few years).

I don't think it will cause a problem but if you don't plug the thermostat into a surge protector there's nothing protecting the thermostat.

Personally i just use a power bar. Has built in surge protectors. I dont like to plug anything important into the walls directly or extension cords etc without a powerbar that has a surge protrctor built in it.

I have the thermostats power cords plugged into surge protectors and have each level of the heat tape plugged into a separate surge protector that is then plugged directly into the back of the thermostat
