So, I was watching a string of videos by this guy from the UK, and in one he holds up a Colombian Rainbow. Plain brown snake with a bit of shine. The Brazilians always seemed a little flashy to me - personal preference, I just don't care for really bold colors outlined in heavy black. But the Colombian...oh my! Beautiful! He also said they were fairly chill. I ended up perusing care sheets, and the listings on Kingsnake (which were morphs - pretty, but not what I want in this boa).

One vendor has some plain males, and they aren't even very pricey. (I thought they would retail for much more.) Well, our seasonal Pecan money is already slated for a 4' viv for the Sonoran Gopher, and I need another Herpstat. Jumpstarts are ok, but I don't like relying on them long term. Which pretty much moves things out to February/March...somewhere around there for another snake and related equipment.

Hoping these plain brown boring snakes will not sell out before I can get one for myself.

I highly recommend them. [emoji16] I got my guy as a rescue a little over 20 years ago. He was in poor shape when I got him, but you can see from these photos that he's now fat and happy. I just took these this morning after cleaning his cage. He goes through light and dark phases, and the iridescence in sunlight is amazing.

He has a great temperament and has been pretty easy to care for. They like slightly lower temperatures, and need a little higher humidity on a consistent basis. Because of the size cage he's in (8'), my hot spot is set for 85F to give a bit more gradient. With the heat on for winter, my humidity is sitting around 68-70. Just as an aside, he'll be downsized to a 4' cage next year...they don't need anything near this big though he does cruise it. He is gorgeous! Twenty years! They are reported to be long-lived snakes.
I'll be turning 50 this month. Not getting any younger, so I'll have to make getting one a priority. :P

He’s actually 30 years old this year. The guy bought him as a neonate in 1988, and I got him from the original owner in 1996-1997. He shows no signs of slowing down yet. :P
