Ball python soaking alot

Not to sure whats up with her ive had her for a week and the last little bit shes been soaking alot. I cant see any health issues so far. Been on white paper towel for about 3 days or more no sign of mites so far. No breathing issues again that i have heard. I put a hide in last night to try to prevent her from doing this as much and went to check on her today and she had her whole body emerged in the water i pulled her out after i opened the bin and she decided to put her head under too. I lifted the hide and put her in it hasnt moved since. Im a little worried on why shes doing this. I got a heating pad thermostat set at 89 tub floor gets about 85 to 90ish inside the thermometor i have the probe hanging in there is reading anywhere from 75 to 77 trying to bring that up a bit. But any idea if this is normal behaviour shes constantly gping in and out of her water dish im actually debaiting on putting a much smaller dish in there that she cant climb in and soak

Oh yeah forgot to mention too she just shed recently. so she shouldnt be going into shed either.

You sure no mites?? They are smmalllll

take her out and rub her w a rung out wet paper towel. Check around the eyes and tail area too

Ill check but im pretty sure. Havent seen any tiny black spots moving around on the paper towel in her tub.

We’ve had this discussion on here many times. Some don’t believe ball pythons soak for any other reason then mites. Some believe that ball pythons should be provided with a bowl to soak in in case it chooses. I myself have an occasional soaker, and seen one or two others take a dip now and then. And it’s harder to observe the ones kept in racks and tubs. I keep in tanks, so for me it’s easy to see. But again it never ever hurts to double make sure you don’t have mites or a possible husbandry issue. But yes, some will take a soak if provided the option. Hope this helps. Also make sure you check around the eyes and nostrils/heat pits when looking for mites.

If you're confident it's not mites there are other reasons BPs soak. It could be temperature related. Often times they soak to cool off. This doesn't sound like this case with your setup. But...how are you measuring temps? Are you sure your equipment is reliable and accurate?

And....sometimes they just soak. Because they want to. That being said, why would you move the snake and put it into the hide. If she wanted to be in a hide she would be. She wasn't stuck, she wasn't drowning, she wasn't in danger. So why move her?

Usually and in order (if the animal is not in shed) it's due to

Mites

Lack of security (hides too big), snake using water dish as hide

Temps too hot

Too big of a meal (if in the first 48 hours of being fed)

They rarely soak and when they do there is most likely an underlying cause.
