    My 6' boa escaped!!!
Just thought I would share this... At 330am this morning me and the missus woke to a bang downstairs. It turns out Thor my 6' Nicaraguan had busted his Viv and the glass had fallen out!!!
I almost never got up but the missus insisted it sounded like glass, I assumed it was the dogs banging about.
I went down and the 3ft by 2ft pane of glass from his Viv was lying on the floor and Thor had his head out looking around lol...
He had got between his plastic hide and the bottom piece of the Viv that the runner sits on and forced it apart enough to get the glass out lol.
Thankfully I had picked up my new female Saturday so had a Viv to put him straight in, although this isn't ideal it was a help at that time in the morning.
He couldn't have escaped the room as all the doors were shut and he is dog tame so I doubt he would have done anything.
Our sons bedroom door is always shut but I would hate to think what could happen to others with larger more unpredictable snakes.
Just a word of warning to others with bigger snakes, regular vivs may not be up to the job... His Viv was a vivexotic so a well known brand. I'm glad I have his new Viv arriving this week with a wooded runner panel, that will be getting a few extra screws for sure.
Thankfully everything was fine this time, the glass didn't break either which is good. Lesson learned, don't underestimate the power of a snake.

I'm glad your snake didn't get far and your equipment wasn't destroyed. A gentle lesson learned. :)

I'm worried even about a bp escaping, can't imagine one of those giant pythons over 15 feet kept in a house with another animals... Not a nice picture.

The only worry I have about MOST snakes escaping is for the well-being of the snake itself. That includes ball pythons. But I'd certainly be concerned about the
much larger boas & pythons, especially -as you said- in a house with other pets.

What a lucky break (no pun intended) that the glass wasn't broken, as the snake might have been cut by it, & hopefully it can be repaired now too? Not sure it's ever
going to be up to the task of containing this snake though...now that he's had some practice. To the OP: So happy your snake wasn't injured!

I'm glad that Thor is okay!!

Once my ball python got out and I couldn't find her at first. It was frustrating when people said "you must have been so worried about your dogs!!" No...I'm not worried about my 2lb snake hurting my 60 lb and 20 lb dogs. I was worried because having two dogs with relatively high prey drives plus a cat might turn into an ugly picture for my snake.

The Viv is toast tbh, as the bit where the bottom runner goes is aly I'm not sure it's repairable... He will have to stay in with lagatha until Wednesday when his 5*2*2 arrives...
My staffys would have killed him I think, they were locked in the kitchen tho... It's my 4yr old son I wondered about, Thor is a placid as a friendly ball but Im still not stupid enough to leave him alone with the boy... Let alone if he sneaked into his bed for some warmth.

You will have to get some locks at least that way he wouldn't be able to push the glass out and sneak into your son's room for a snuggle
Only a couple of quid on eBay

He snapped the bottom of the Viv right off.
I don't think locks would have made a difference in this instance.
The glass had the plugs that stopped it sliding open...

These are no good for boa, he was due the upgrade but still...
Avoid vivexotic with alloy running bourds for boa.
I bought it built so wasn't aware of how weak it was especially after some water damage.
