Hey everybody! Need some advice on gargoyle geckos!
Some of you may know that I’ve been on this forum for about a year as a ball python owner. Recently I’ve uncovered a 10 gallon (12X10X?) and completely cleaned and sanitized it. That being said, I would like to possibly own another species, and I’ve been thinking about either an African Giant Millipede (A. gigas) OR MAYBE a gargoyle gecko? So here’s my question:
If I turn the 10 gallon on it’s side (making it vertical since they’re arboreal) and get a screen with a door, can I properly and humanely house a single adult gargoyle gecko?
If not, feel free to leave some other species suggestions that would work, whether they’re reptiles or not! I’m huge into exotics and I can look into each one to get the right fit. Thank you!!

My opinion is a 10 gal tank flipped on it's side vertically won't provide enough square footage for a gargoyle gecko. A 10 gal is only 10"x10".

I had taken measurements on my 10 gal though, it was a well over 10” by 10”. I can’t remmeber whether I measured 20” or 12”? It was odd. Possibly a 10 long, which is why I’m asking. Figured it would add extra vertical height.

thank you so much. I will keep looking perhaps, I don’t want to confine an animal to a space too small, and I don’t believe my dad will want to upgrade terrariums any time soon. I can always wait until older. Thanks again!

Keep in mind that for a young Garg (not sure if you plan on a baby or adult) smaller will be better (you want to avoid stress), this can easily and cheaply be achieve with a tub like this http://www.sterilite.com/SelectProdu...=305§ion=1 (if you get a baby to juvy) and later you can always get a permanent enclosure.

I just took the measurements, this 10 gal specifcally is a 10"X12"X20"... does that still work for a juvy? and approximately how long would it be until the permanent enclosure upgrade? thank you!
also I wasn't really planning on a baby, I prefer to get my animals when they are a little mature even if they are not fully into adulthood
