petsmart and petco sometimes have good deals on snakes theyve had for awhile. last black friday they had a BEL (blue eyed leucistic) ball python for like $200 (typically $400)

I am sure that many here would advise caution when purchasing an animal from a chain store.

They can come with many issues with poor care from inexperienced staff with little training.

i know, and i advise the same. but in that case its on the person who’s purchasings knowledge to make the judgment on whether or not the snake looks healthy and to ask questions and ask to hold it before purchasing

also, dire, if i remember correctly in the other thread you were telling me you live in toledo, which if youre willing to drive a couple hours theres a monthly reptile show in brookpark/cleveland, the next one coming up is october 28th

That's hardly a deal when the vet bills start piling up. I personally wouldn't buy live animals from big box stores, rgardless of price, as I refuse to "reward" their practices by giving them revenue. But, if you choose to go that route, buy with extreme caution.

Also, there are exceptions to every rule, so I'm sure some stores have much better practices, but I still refuse to put money into a corporation that allows neglect, often bordering on cruelty to be allowed in the vast majority of their locations.

oh also, theres a couple reptile stores in lakewood ohio aswell. ones called scales and tails, im not too sure if any small named places will have black friday sales though.
