Extension cords?
Hey all! It's finally time to upgrade my girl's tub and the way my apartment is wired, it would be easiest to me to plug both my CHE and UTH into an extension cord (had to change tub location due to larger size, no suitable outlet in new location b/c the one there is on a light switch...I'd be constantly forgetting and turning off her heat). With the old set-up, I use one of those outlet extenders that has three places to plug in, and I have a thermostat for each heat source using two of them. Since I know the old outlet works and isn't on a switch, would it be dangerous to simply plug an extension cord into it and put the splitter on the end? I for some reason recall that you shouldn't use extension cords with UTHs, but I don't know if thats myth or something I made up in my head or actually a real concern. Thanks in advance!!

In place of the extension cord? Hm, I never considered that!

Re: Extension cords?
There's no reason you cannot use an extension cord with UTH...& I've used many UTHs for many years. "They" do say that it's best not to use extension cords with
ANYTHING long-term, that they should be temporary use only...I don't know why that is though; I would speculate that it has more to do with the WAY many people
use extension cords, such as placing them where they get stepped on & damaged, or they use them with high-wattage appliances that cause the cords to heat up, &
in time they physically break down. UTH are fairly low-wattage, at least all the ones I've used are. That said, the use of a multi-outlet surge protector is a better idea.
