Looking for breeders that breed for size...?
Is that even possible? I want a big ball python that can reach 5-6ft instead of 3-5ft. I’ve seen the 5000 gram female on YouTube and some more big ones but they always say it’s genetic. Do everybody just breed for colors?? :weirdface

Why not look at a larger species than a BP. More snakes in the world is all I am saying.

True I’ve been looking into some boas that might stay in the 5-6ft range

Size is often genetic not all animals will grow to the same size and the genetic is not the only thing that goes into it either feeding, fast, age etc all come in play.
I have some females in the 4000 grams that will lay 10 to 12 eggs each time and the babies are usually 85 to 92 grams when they hatch.
Those animals all came from my founder het pied female I acquired in 2006 and so far any female that have held back has been in the 3500/4000 grams range.
Could those females rach 5000 grams in my care? I would say it's possible but they are still fairly young 6 to 9 years old.
Thanks for your input hopefully my baby get in the 4000 gram range some day :)

I just picked up a het piebald female that is barely three years old and 2500 g! I am excited to see what she looks like when she’s 10 years old

The mother of mine was supposedly Volta lineage and upwards of 4000 grams. Right now my girl doesn’t seem exceptionally large: around 350 grams and 7 months. She was 89 grams when hatched I believe. However, she’s recently hit a growth spurt..:: so we’ll see. I’m sort of hoping she will be on the larger side but it’s not a huge concern.
