Taking my BP to work...

So I just got my BP Imogen like a week ago and I’m just in love with her and she’s all I talk about. My supervisor heard me talking about having a snake and she thought it’d be a great idea to bring it to work one day on my off day and try to educate people about them. And also to show the clients. I work at a state school with clients who have intellectual and physical disabilities. I told her I’d think about it.

I think it’s a great idea. I’m always willing to teach and get people to see that there’s no need to fear them. But I’m thinking she’s too small and it’s too soon to have so many people around her. I wouldn’t want to stress her out. I personally would like to wait until she is older.

i agree: she's smol and you don't truly know her personality yet or how she'll be. a room full of people getting up close could easily over-stress her and make her defensive. if you could get it down to a group of only a few ppl thatd he better.

i brought my 5 year old male into work one day when i was only working 4hrs. i only told like >10 ppl and they were super curious and interested in him and they asked so many questions; it was a great experience. [emoji4]

Beautiful noodle! I would definitely wait let her get used to her new home before planning her first outing.

By all means, explain why you cannot do this just yet. Your snake comes first.

I second the above posts really - when used in education or in a crowded environment it would be a basic idea to have a snake you know would be calm and unstressed by the conditions.

You have to always have to hope for the best but plan for the worst - what would happen if the snake got freaked out and bit someone - we all know it's not a big deal but reassuring parents and children with challenges of that might not be as easy as you think.

Maybe down the line once she’s older and I know her personality more.

Good idea holding off. It's definitely too soon to be bringing your new snake anywhere. Since you've only had her about a week you should be letting her settle in and not even be handling her yet, let alone bringing her somewhere stressful like that.
And not to be a party-pooper, but a week's worth of keeping your first snake doesn't really mean you're ready to be doing educational meet-and-greets. I'm not trying to be rude, but if my child were at that school I wouldn't want somebody with so little experience bringing a snake around my child.
It sounds like a great idea in a year or two though...

I'm not saying never, just not yet. Wait til you're truly ready. It'll be more rewarding for all involved. But I do think it's a fantastic idea down the road. Keep learning and you'll know when the time is right!! :gj:
