Strange behavior from my year old hondo
My one year old Male Honduran suddenly turned into the spawn of satan. I opened his tub and he flew out at me trying to strike. He's never done that. I proceeded to get him out and it was like the exorcist lol. He spewed white urates everywhere. Continued to thrash around.
Is this normal?? What do you guys think
Re: Strange behavior from my year old hondo
I agree, sounds like he's freaked out.
I had a very chill BP many moons ago. All of a sudden, she started acting really defensive and striking at me even if I walked by.
We had moved her out of my room and into a large hallway in our house. Turns out the dogs were marking/peeing on her stand.
Totally changed her personality, overnight.
I would look for any changes at all; you never know what could affect a reptile. Very different thought process/reaction process to things than us.
Could just be an off day too, but I think it's something in the environment that changed.
Any thunderstorms in your area? Bad weather puts my snakes on edge. Last year we had the remnants of a hurricane affect us inland here in CT. We didn't get much of the wind, but Shayna, my BP, was on edge.
When I went to pick her up, it was the first time in 5 years of having her I thought I might get tagged defensively. Once I got her out, she would not relax. I ended up figuring it out and putting her right back into one of her hides to ride it out.
Re: Strange behavior from my year old hondo
Nothing changed in his tub. I may have just startled him. He is in a tub so he cant see out. I do have a cat who sometimes snoops around but she has always done that with mo effect on the snake
I checked him this morning and he seems back to normal curled up in his hide.
Hopefully this was just an isolated incident. I will keep an eye on him.
Was he musking me or do you think it was just bad timing and he had to go the bathroom right st that moment. Omg what a mess that was lol
Re: Strange behavior from my year old hondo
We did have some storms come thru with drastic changes in temps
Re: Strange behavior from my year old hondo
He was just thrashing and all this white stuff spewed out everywhere. Looked like liquid urates. It may have been bad timing and he just had to go.
Re: Strange behavior from my year old hondo
I think he musked you. It happens to the best of us :). I also agree that it sounds like he was just startled by something and it was most likely an isolated incident.
