found this on reddit and figured i'd share it here. the source says she was in a wildfire protecting her eggs. :(

Some humans shake their babies or leave them in a hot car, this beautiful mother gave her life to save babes she never meet :tears: really makes you wonder how we ever labeled yourself selves superior to all other life forms..:confusd:

I heard there's a similar photo shared by firefighters from the recent California wildfires of a rattlesnake in a strike pose that had nowhere to flee from the fire & tried
in vain to fight back...:( Horrible way to lose life, no matter what species. Sorry I saw this one (above), might have nightmares. :tears: (the other was only described
to me)
