    Mystery Theatre: Axanthic
    Yet another post via me!

I picked up a lovely triple het boy- albino, axanthic, pied. Trouble is- the axanthic type his mom happened to be is lost. He's killer. Absolutely phenomenal, so dark you would have thought he was a genetic black back.

Now to go about proving him I've decided I'll pick up a female VPI AND a TSK in the near future- but should I get hets as well? Like a VPI het pied and a tsk het albino just to get some good odds?

Would it reduce my chances at a visual?

Is there a market for double het VPI/tsk axanthic???

    Any ideas please drop em

No market for double hets. Nobody wants to go through the trouble of having two lines of axanthic in the same breeding group, and all of the headache that comes with figuring out what is what if any visuals are produced.

I personally wouldn't invest the money into double or triple recessive females until you know for sure what axanthic you are working with. Could be a large waste of money producing a bunch of normal pos hets from a pricey female.

I'm willing to bet your boy is VPI though-- its older and more prevalent than TSK or Jolliff axanthic. Might be wise to invest in a breeder female het or visual VPI to prove him out and go on to get a different female (TSK or Jolliff) if he isnt proving from her.

I was leaning hard on VPI but I was told by a local guy that most Snows just happen to be TSK cause of price- not sure how true it is but I know those are the most common two.

Should I just go single gene visual VPI then? And not worry about a het?
