    Is he a normal?
Hey, all! This lil guy was surrendered to me yesterday. I specialize in other reptiles, however, so I’m not super savvy on morphs and what have you.

I was told the snake was a normal, but the owner didn’t know its age or sex. If anyone could also help me decipher the latter without probing or popping, I would really appreciate it. I’ve read mixed messages but it’s not really a priority at the moment.

Anyway, if you could tell me if this guy is a normal, or if not, possibly his morph, I would be eternally grateful !!

Edit: forgot the photos like a complete idiot. Sorry about that.

Looks like a normal to me!

As far as determining age and sex... Do you have a weight and length? These can give you approximate ages, but it'll still be hard to tell as these can vary from snake to snake. And as far as I know, there's not really an accurate way to tell sex visually for ball pythons (except that females tend to put on a bit more weight and males stay leaner). Probing is going to be your best bet. I'd set up a vet appointment for that, as well as a general check up. Can't hurt!

Ah. Wonderful, thank you !! I do have his length but no way to weigh him (I have lizards and make hognoses so my scale is teeny tiny). I think I’ll just be taking him to the vet as you suggested. He’s a little dehydrated and has some burns from his previous care so I want to get him looked at. Anyway, thank you again, I really appreciate it!

You're welcome! The vet may also be able to give you an approximate age, as well! Poor thing, though. It's a shame that he's coming to you in poor shape, but sounds like you should be able to get that all sorted. Good luck!

Are any of us "normal"? LOL. Good luck. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Normal-ish? lol, but I’m no expert, I mean (S)he is very pretty and bright, almost vanilla like, or ghost-ish looking with the light yellow/gold. Or how about VPI Ax?? I just looked up some pics and IDK .. Maybe another member can help a LOT more ..but I wouldn’t get too excited .. Either way That would be an awesome free-bee if you get a gene like those, but What was (s)he listed as ( just normal or Het for something)? If the previous owners can recalls?

I do see little in the belly, and the reduced alien heads on the inside make for some intrest (may want to include pics of outside pattern too & along with good tail pics) but nothing outstanding to say an obvious secondary gene in play here.. I see the little dots which had me looking up diff color ways similar to your animal but we’re talking to the eyes of the still learning Herp’r.. but nice addition and good luck ..

To answer your questions, normal, only two ways to sex are popping or probe and there is no way to tell the age u less you hav records from the breeder that produced the animal.
