    High humidity in rack
I just got V-70 rack from c serpents. My concern is humidity in rack is going at 75-80% right now.. I use reptile prime coconut fiber bedding and do not spray at all.. I got a water bowl, decent size in V-70 tub. Putting holes is my last priority since I can’t undo that if I need to.. Does thick bedding affect the humidity? Should I remove some bedding and check? I live in Colorado and my room is at like 50%.. I see little condensation on top inside the rack. Is that bad? Bedding is not wet at all.

Is the water bowl near the heat source? My gut is telling me that's probably the cause, since you say it's a decent size bowl.

Thick bedding would hold moisture and therefore up the humidity if you were misting it, but since you aren't, then I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference (though I could be wrong).

I'd do a little experiment if I were you - take the bedding out of one tub, replace with newspaper, but leave the water in. In another tub, leave the bedding, but take the water bowl out.

Check the humidity tomorrow and see what the results are and if anything has changed in those tubs.

What are you using to to check the humidity ( and temps ) ?

    Anything like this ??

yeap I am using the digital one. Temperature is accurate, matches up with my temp gun. I don't know if humidity is accurate but I am pretty sure it is.

It is away from the hot spot. I am trying different stuff to figure out what the best solution would be. If nothing, I will probably end up putting some holes.. trying with water bowl with no substrate at all, so far humidity is at 60% level.

Even without the water bowl and removed little bit of substrate, humidity is still 70% +
Colorado is not even that humid so weird.

    Hm.

Do you have another thermometer/hygrometer you could do a test with? Just to make sure you're getting accurate readings.

Yeap, I have two. Both reading above 75%+ ..
Guess putting holes is the only choice now. Sad I have to put holes into nice vision tub lol.

Oh no, I don't own those. I have the digital one which shows temp and humidity, low high etc.
