Mosquito repellent which is safe with snakes
    Hello,

Please guys, would be grateful for any info of possible Mosquito repellent products which can be safely used around snakes?
I prefer repellents like bottled oils/liquid used in the electrical socket. Maybe anty mosquito candles?
I don't like creams or sprays for the skin.
We live in a small studio apartment with the snake in the same room. I read that it's not safe to use around reptiles, so I'm worried it might hurt my snake. Can't find any useful info online.

Any ideas?... please, I'm scratching my skin off, mosquitos adore me :rolleye2:

Lots of mosquitoes where I live too, but the trick is to keep them outside. How are they getting in? (no screens on windows? fix that...)
Is there any standing water where they can breed? (unused toilet or other? fix that...)

I agree about the topical repellents, kinda yucka to use on your skin & clothes, but I've never used any of the room-diffuser kinds, as I don't have
any mosquitoes in the house. If I think of anything, I'll get back to you...I hate mosquitoes & I'm glad you're thinking about what is safe for snakes too.

Afterthought as far as standing water (they can breed in)- do you have houseplants? Water often collects in the saucers under the pots, mosquitoes
can happily breed there too. (this topic is starting to make me itch!)

There is no standing water anywhere near, it is a nice apartment on the 4th floor, Mosquitoes are coming in through the balcony and windows. I have curtains on, but not helpful. Can't have screen doors cause my cat is roaming in and out all the time and fresh air is needed due to hooot temperatures here, so it needs to be wide open all the time.
Making a specialized mesh moving door is my last option, but not convenient cause of the cat boss. Snake has a better attitude :D

This site is my only chance to find out: does a mosquito repellent electrical socket, which is snake safe even exist?

I used to use it every summer... before getting a noodle. Noodle stays, but wish the mosquitos would leave..

Without knowing what chemicals are used & being put into your air from such a device, there's no way to know for sure...but I wouldn't chance using it.

On the other hand, have you looked into a "cat door"? there are various kinds, you want the kind you install yourself with a magnetic closure so that it
re-seals itself after the cat goes thru. You could modify a screen for the window with a cat-door installed into it. That's what I'd do, anyway... (the part
for the cat-door would need to be solid for support, but the rest of the panel could be screen, for your air-flow). It's not that hard to teach dogs & cats to
use these door's...treats & the promise of 'freedom' are usually more than enough.

And if you installed screens on all windows/doors and even just cut a slit or flap in one for the cat to slink thru, you'd have far fewer mosquitoes.
