The Great Ciri Scare of 2018
I hate to be posting one of these so soon after getting the little girl, but she certainly just took me for a wild ride (almost...)!

So it was maybe 30ish min ago. I realized I hadn't done my usual afternoon check up of the snake rack since I was out with a few friends for much of the afternoon, so I went in and found that Ciri had left me a nice mine in the middle of her cage. I cleaned it up, and went to get the scale to see how big she was, and when I lifted her usual hide, she wasnt there. That was strange. So I went to the other side and lifted that hide, and she wasnt there either. Neither was she under the paper towels. I almost had a heart attack for a brief moment. I was about to panic, before I started remembering some of the stuff I had been taught reading on here about the escape artists.

They never like to go very far, and are always in the last place you'd look.

Looking back at my dresser, I realized it was a fair bit tall for a BP to climb down, and though i'm sure one could figure it out, I decided to think otherwise for the time being, especially with her only being probably around 70g max at her current size. I stared at the top of the dresser, and noticed I had left some of my work clothes on one end, and of course, an extra snake hide was underneath that. Took a small peek, and it took only a second to notice her light head in the corner of the hide.

I quickly plopped her back in a freshly cleaned tub and slid her in, but I was still curious how she had gotten out.

Well, silly past me had forgotten to put the screws into the backing of my CSerpants rack. The electrical tape they used in the beginning to hold it in place had worked for a while and I suppose I had just forgotten about it, but it had apparently fallen off without me noticing somehow, so when I pushed my tubs in, there was maybe an extra half-inch of slide before they hit the wall. This was enough for the girl to squeeze out of in the event of trying to escape her own smelly refuse.

I replaced the screws, and now everything looks and feels solid, though I feel stupid for being so careless. Just glad she didnt get hurt, and that Paarthurnax is already too fat to fit out of a hole like that. And, in the end, I suppose I was able to weigh her and get the reading of 65g (dang, I knew she was tiny but that surprised me. Gonna keep track of her weight a lot more as she eats, she's been pounding her rats!), so I suppose I can count myself as lucky. Thanks for all of you who have either lost your snakes before, or have given advice on one, because that sure helped me find her quick!
