Covering up the lid

I've been having trouble with humidity. Im down to the last options now. Im a little hestistant covering with any of plastic wrap. I saw that someone reccomended using plexglass. Does this work very well. I would love to stay with my glass cage. Also what type of ventilation would work best. Cutting out triangles or drilling holes.

I use two pieces of cardboard covered in that shelf liner. (I had all these cardboard boxes and shelf liner left over from our move) Then as I need I adjust the two pieces to allow more or less ventilation. Plastic wrap would work fine, as well as plexiglass. You want something that is nonporous that will trap the humidity in, and not suck it out. Use what you have on hand. Maybe even plastic wrap a piece of cardboard if you have to. Whatever works. :rolleyes:

She posted this in another thread, but should answer your question. This is just a partial quote, but the rest was irrelevent to this topic.

i've used plexiglass, towels,cardboard,duct tape and reptile magazines. all did the job. leave a small space about 1/2 to 1 inch gap for air. the plexiglass looks the best, but that's just looks.

Im gonna use some plexiglass, how big should the openings be in the corners. The cage is 30"x12"x12". Im going to put in some cypress mulch too to help. With the cypress my BP still hasn't pooed. Its been 3 weeks now since I've started feeding, should I wait till she has gone to put it in.

Assuming of course you have screen beneath to thwart escaping I would make the openings about 2" in each corner (if you are doing triangles) or a 1" strip down the narrower sides. Obviously you can always trim off more to tweak it to where you want it but once cut off it cant be put back too easily - you can however always make up for that with contac paper or the like.
